I have 2 Goldens and we live in a big apartment and they are totally fine. They are fit, healthy, and exercised. The key factor in keeping a high energy Golden in an apartment is the exercise it gets while living in one. As for the heavy shedding senario, if owners properly brushed there dogs everyday or every other day the shedding would be minimal.
